Paul Demeyer
Paul Demeyer is a celebrated animation film director, born in the old city of Bruges, Belgium. He also lived in Luxembourg, the U.K. and the U.S, wherever his interests and animation work lead him. He directed animated shorts, TV commercials, TV shows like Duckman and the feature film Rugrats in Paris. For his student short he won a Student Academy Award, for The Goose Girl best Children Film Award at the Ottawa Animation Film Festival, and at the Animation Celebration in Los Angeles, for the Duckman show the Braniff Film Festival Best TV Episode Award, and a Humanitas Award for a Rugrats TV episode.
He also illustrated children books for Gollancz in the U.K. A natural teacher he taught at prestigious art and film schools in Belgium, the U.K, the U.S. and China.
Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 10,he suffered some of its serious complications. After losing the best of his eyesight he still started a successful career in Hollywood. Eventually he had to have both feet amputated. Years of meditation practice and prayer, learning from spiritual teachers, reading books of different religious traditions, and his own experiences have given him a deep faith and inner peace. It helped him get through setbacks and live in gratitude and joy.
Paul Demeyer teaches meditation and gives talks on contemplative prayer in the Catholic tradition. He lives with his wife and two cats in what he calls an oasis of peace in the middle of the Los Angeles metropolis.
