Spots made at Klasky-Csupo, Hollywood and Wild Canary, Burbank.
US commercials tended to be more on the nose than in the UK advertising, still I enjoyed both studios very much. Klasky was known for The Simpsons, before I started working there. They made a whole string of shows for Nickleodeon (Rugrats, Rocket Power, Aah Real Monsters. Wild Thornberrys, As told by Ginger etc.) and four movies based on their franchises. I was lucky to be given the opportunity to take on different hats at the studio. Now and then doing commercials which was a nice break from the never relenting stream of TV production. Then my old producer Richard Marlis asked me to join his new company Wild Canary (most of the crew came from Klasky) where we only did commercials for the first 4 or 5 years. I was pretty much the only director for a while with Max Micelli as art director. Then around 2012 I directed a test and then a pilot for Disney Jr. and started to work with Sascha Palandino on the show Miles from Tomorrowland. This lasted till 2018. meanwhile other series came to the studio, and Wild Canary became a larger studio. All very exciting times. All involved gave their very best, pretty much the standard in this industry as people love what they do.
